What can you expect from consultation?
The consultation should lead to answer all your question and to give you detailed instructions about the planned surgery. We should discuss your ideas and goals which you want to achieve. We will consider your case individually and we will explain the technical possibilities of the surgery to you. The result which you can approximately expect and what the risks and possible complications of the surgical procedure are, should be explained to you. We will explain the procedure of the surgical treatment and post-surgical treatment to you.
Except for other information, you will receive the instructions for the pre-surgical examination, required tests and medicine which you will possibly take. Further on you will get the instructions about the start of your hospitalization and post-surgical treatment and surveillance.
It is absolutely normal, that you have a fear and worries, due to the results of the surgery or because of the surgery itself. Therefore, please do not be afraid to ask any question. All of them will be answered.
Informed consent
During the consultation or anytime before the surgery you will be asked to sign a proclamation, that you understand the process of the surgery, risks and possible complications that follow from the surgery. This form is used to ensure the surgeon, that you have understood everything connected with the surgery and that you have understood and considered the procedure which you require.
Is your surgeon qualified enough to perform a plastic surgery?
The Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery together with the Ministry of health of the Czech Republic established the legal conditions which guarantee the adequate qualifications of the doctor to perform the plastic surgery procedures. This qualification meets the European Union directives and it is conditioned by accomplishing of specialization in plastic surgery and acquiring of the licence of the Czech Medical Chamber. Therefore please require only the doctor with the licence of the Czech Medical Chamber in plastic surgery for you surgery. Unfortunately, not all of the plastic surgeries are performed by plastic surgeon these days.
Are plastic surgeries painful?
The plastic surgeries, as well as other surgeries, are connected with a certain pain in the post-operative period. Some surgeries are less painful, some are more, also the perceiving of the pain varies from patient to patient. After the surgery you will be given analgetics (painkillers) in the form of injections or tablets. If a new pain appears after the surgery or the painfulness has worsened, please contact us immediately.
I would like to have good-looking scars. What can I do to achieve it?
The scar appearance depends mainly on the pattern of your healing which are different for different people. The healing takes several stages. You can expect reddening and light hardening of the scar approximately between 2nd and 3rd month after the surgery. During this period, it is proper to avoid the exposition to the direct sunlight and to massage the scar by so-called pressure massage. If the healing proceeds in the usual way, the scars slowly fade and soften within several months. It can take a year and more, until the scars are healed completely. If your healing pattern tend to be abnormal, forms hypertrophic or keloid scars, the special care of the scars is necessary after the surgery. For better scar healing you can apply some medicaments e.g. Dermatix, Contratubex, Silipos and so.
